In this vertical format, Medsan places a young man leaning on the counter of a Japanese tavern, his black hair tousled and falling over his eyes, chest bare, a dark floral kimono slipped at the hips. He holds a tilted black hip flask, his head tilted, his gaze lowered toward the footed glass as he fills it with a dark red liquid. The liquid overflows, spreads into a puddle on the gleaming wood, and runs in a long streak along the tray, next to an empty round tray.

Above him, a large red lantern, lit, descends from the ceiling; a second burns farther away, to the left, behind a black bottle and a low glass. The checkered partitions let through an amber light, and a branch of five-petaled red flowers overtakes the entire right side. Red from the lantern and the flowers, warm brown of the counter, black of the beams: a late evening suspended just before the glass is too full.

Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms.
