Description from the seller
Japanese 南部鉄器Nambu Tekki Cast Iron Teapot – Oikan Foundry – Pine & Chrysanthemum Design – Enamel Interior – Vintage
Shipping method: DHL Express
Important Note:
This is an enamel-coated cast iron teapot, not a tetsubin kettle for boiling water.
Do not place it directly over a flame or other heat source.
Please boil water separately and pour the hot water into the teapot to brew tea.
A traditional Japanese Nambu Tekki cast iron teapot, produced by Oikan Foundry (及勘鋳造所) in the Mizusawa area of Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
The maker’s name and address are documented on the original Japanese instruction leaflet included with the teapot.
The body features a beautifully textured cast-iron surface decorated with traditional Japanese motifs, including a pine branch and chrysanthemum. The lid is finished with a pine-cone-shaped knob, creating a distinctive and elegant Japanese design.
The interior has been treated with a rust-resistant enamel coating, as stated in the accompanying instructions. This indicates that the piece is intended primarily as a teapot for brewing and serving tea rather than as a kettle for boiling water directly over a flame. Nambu cast-iron teapots with enamel interiors are designed to resist internal rust and are generally not intended for direct heating.
A removable stainless-steel tea strainer is included.
Particularly attractive for collectors is the survival of the original wooden-style presentation box and Japanese instruction leaflet, which provide useful information about the maker and original use of the piece.
The cast iron has a dark brown-black finish with the characteristic textured surface associated with traditional Nambu ironware. Please examine the photographs carefully for the condition and details.
Use:
Suitable for brewing and serving Japanese tea, or as a decorative and collectible example of traditional Japanese Nambu ironware.

Because the interior is enamel-coated, this item should not be placed directly over an open flame or used to boil water.
