Description from the seller
A rare and well-working antique maritime dry compass from the well-known instrument maker F.J. Kloos from Rotterdam.
This authentic ship's compass is in excellent condition and is equipped with the original Dutch compass rose with clear regional markings (N, E, S, W? Wait). Wait, we must be careful: Dutch windrose shows O (Oost), Z (Zuid), W (West), NO, ZO, ZW, NW. In translation we should preserve letters likely. So we should say original Dutch windrose with clear regional indications (O, Z, W, NO, ZO, ZW, NW).
A stunning and historic collector’s item for lovers of nautical antiques, maritime history, or as an eye-catcher in a classic interior.
This is a large specimen. See the photo with a pen to get a good sense of its size.
The compass has a diameter of 18.3 cm. The ring has a diameter of 22 cm.
Many photos have been added so the condition of the compass can be well assessed.
Photos are part of the description.
The compass will be very well packaged, insured, and sent by registered mail with a track and trace code.
