TITLE
Pair of 800 silver salt cellars with removable glass inner dishes and a coordinating spoon – Italy – first half of the 20th century
FULL DESCRIPTION
Refined pair of dining salt cellars in 800 silver, accompanied by their respective removable transparent worked glass inner dishes and a small coordinating spoon.
The two salt cellars have a circular shape with a rim decorated with a twisted motif and rest on three small ornamental feet, giving the piece a pleasant classical character.
Inside are placed two removable transparent glass dishes, each with decorative work on the bottom.
The lot also includes a silver 800 spoon, also decorated and bearing a hallmark.
On the silver parts there are stamps and marks, documented in detail in the photographs. On the spoon the title “800” is clearly legible, accompanied by an additional producer or silversmith mark. Further markings are on the bottom of the salt cellars.
Era: first half of the 20th century, indicative of about 1930–1950. The dating is proposed based on the object type, style and the markings present; no exact year is indicated due to lack of original documentation.
Origin: Italy.
Material: 800 silver and glass.
Lot composition: 2 800-silver salt cellars, 2 removable internal glass inserts, and 1 800-silver spoon.
Approximate measurements: each salt cellar about 6 × 3 cm; spoon about 6 cm in length.
Total weight of silver parts: about 96.20 g. The indicated weight refers to the metal parts without the two glass inserts, which were excluded from weighing.
The items are presented in vintage condition, with evident natural patina, tarnish, small spots and normal signs of use and age. They have not been subject to aggressive polishing in order to preserve their state and patina.
