Antique Victorian adjustable wooden bookstand / lectern
Antique adjustable wooden bookstand / lectern, probably from the 20th century.
A particularly decorative and functional piece with a handsome dark patinated wooden finish. The stand features an adjustable slanted reading surface, allowing the tilt angle to be adjusted. The construction is also foldable, so the stand can be stored compactly.
The front is equipped with a nicely recessed panel and profiled wooden mouldings. The sturdy rectangular base rests on four small block feet. The dark finish shows light signs of use and color variations in several places, which contribute to the authentic appearance and patina.
The model and construction are characteristic of antique European book, reading, and music stands from the 20th century.
A beautiful decorative object for a library, study, or interior, but of course also actually usable as a book or reading stand.
