Description
TYPE I is a personal art project by Pieter Bas Bouwman, who has lived with type 1 diabetes since the age of seven. The work translates a daily reality into a visual language of repetition and rhythm.

At the center is the tension between control and temptation, two forces that continually vie for primacy.

Each piece consists of a box filled with insulin syringes, hand-arranged into a pattern on a wooden substrate. The placing requires patience and precision; the resulting repetition evokes the routines by which a life unfolds, whether or not diabetes is involved.

A Plexiglas cover seals the work, a temptation visible but just out of reach.

Shipping
The artwork is shipped in the original box. Shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility.
