Description from the seller
This vintage lamp is of Italian origin and is made in the recognizable Capodimonte style.
Capodimonte originated in Naples, Italy. Since the 18th and 19th centuries, this tradition has been worldwide known for fine, detailed porcelain and ceramics. The lamp combines a pronounced Rococo or Baroque style with romantic, hand-painted floral motifs (polychrome).
The pierced and richly decorated foot (also called pierced or scroll porcelain) is a typical feature of Italian decorative ceramics from the mid-20th century (often produced between the 1950s and 1970s).
The stamp on the bottom confirms that this is the official and globally known Capodimonte mark from Italy! The mark shows a crowned letter 'N' (standing for Naples). In this particular case it is a graceful, hand-painted or hand-stamped blue variant, complete with the characteristic rays or points of the crown above. This stamp proves that the lamp was produced according to the official Italian Capodimonte tradition.
The distinctive flowing style of this painted 'N' in combination with the pierced ceramic foot points to production in the mid-20th century (estimated between the 1950s and 1970s), when Capodimonte lamps and decorative pieces were enormously popular in European interiors.
In very good and tested working condition (see photos).
Dimensions:
Length 25 cm, top diameter 4 cm, bottom diameter 10 cm.
Ships well-packaged and insured.
