Description from the seller
Lucía Lauren (LILI) is a Cuban artist with a primarily self-taught plastic arts background, trained in Social Communication at the University of Havana.
Her relationship with the image began long before she professionally dedicated herself to painting. Photography marked her first creative territory: through it she developed a special sensitivity to composition, visual balance, gesture, and the representation of the human figure. Later she spent several years in the tattoo world, a decisive stage for understanding the importance that line, silhouette, simplification of forms, and graphic clarity have in her current painting.
Eventually she found in the plastic arts a space of much broader expression. Painting allowed her to bring together those earlier experiences and transform them into an intimate and recognizable universe, built mainly with acrylic on canvas.
Lucía Lauren’s work revolves especially around women, nature, flowers, and animals, with the recurring presence of the cat as a silent companion to her protagonists. They are scenes that rarely seek to narrate extraordinary events. On the contrary, the artist seems interested in small moments of calm: a woman holding her cat, a figure surrounded by flowers, a glass of wine, an imagined garden or simply a moment of contemplation.
Her painting starts from a marked visual synthesis. Lucía eliminates much of the secondary information to preserve only what she considers essential. Serenely calm faces, large areas of color, defined outlines, and flat shapes build instantly legible images, yet charged with sensitivity.
In her language we find echoes of contemporary illustration and naïve painting, along with decorative references close to Art Deco and Art Nouveau. However, these elements appear reinterpreted from her own sensibility, warmer, more everyday and feminine.
One of the most interesting aspects of her work is the use of color. Powder pinks, terracottes, ochres, mustards, and cream tones coexist with deep blacks, blue-green greens, intense reds, and very clean whites. In some compositions the palette is delicate and almost domestic; in others, the chromatic contrast takes on a clearly graphic intensity.
The woman occupies the center of almost her entire pictorial universe. She is not represented as a heroic or distant character, but from a tranquil, elegant, and introspective femininity. They are figures with serene gazes, slow poses, and restrained gestures. There is glamour, but it is an intimate and silent glamour.
Cats play a particularly interesting role. More than mere decorative elements, they act as symbols of companionship, independence, tenderness, and emotional refuge. In works where woman and animal embrace, the curves of the human body and the shapes of the cat almost fuse, turning the composition into a representation of affection.
Flowers and vegetation play a similar role. They surround the protagonists, appear on their dresses, or integrate into the backgrounds to the point of sometimes blurring the boundary between figure and nature. Thus, woman, nature, and the animal world end up forming one sensitivity.
In works such as the figure embracing the cat on a red background, Lucía radically reduces the palette to build the image through the contrast between black, white, and red. The stripes of the dress cease to be merely a print and become the main compositional resource: they surround both characters and concentrate the entire scene in the gesture of the embrace. The result conveys protection, intimacy, and quiet.
In other pieces, like the woman seated beside the cat and the glass of wine, the artist develops a composition closer to contemporary design. The terracotta of the dress dialogues with soft pinks, beiges, and blue-green, creating a sophisticated image without feeling cold. The protagonist performs no specific action; she simply exists within her space. Precisely that absence of drama constitutes much of the charm of the work.
Thus, Lucía Lauren develops a painting that appears simple but is carefully constructed. Her language does not rely on ostentatious technical virtuosity, but on the ability to reduce a scene until its essential emotion is found.
Her universe is feminine, botanical, domestic, and affectionate. It features everyday beauty, relationships with animals, care, contemplation, and nature as refuge. Her paintings possess a particularly attractive quality: they may seem decorative at first glance, but behind that beauty lies a constant search for harmony, sensitivity, and serenity.
In a contemporary landscape where many images seek to grab attention through excess, Lucía Lauren takes the opposite path: she simplifies. And precisely in that simplicity resides a large part of the personality of her work.

This acrylic on canvas painting is framed in a refined Art Deco style and contemporary figurative illustration with a deeply poetic load. The composition shows a stylized profile of a woman wearing a white hat of a pamela type, cradling tenderness and serenity to a black cat, placed against an architectural background dominated by a large golden star and lush white lilies. The pictorial structure stands out for the fluidity of its contour lines and the geometric balance of the arches and columns in the background. Its color palette is chromatically sober yet impactful, contrasting deep cobalt blues and jet blacks with the luminosity of white, cream, and golden highlights, creating an intimate, sophisticated, and timelessly elegant atmosphere.
