Set of 6 ancient volumes devoted to surgery, external pathology and operative medicine, bringing together two important French medical treatises of the 19th century.

Auguste Vidal (de Cassis) – Traité de pathologie externe et de médecine opératoire, with summaries of anatomy of tissues and regions – third revised, corrected and augmented edition – Paris, J.-B. Baillière, 1851.
3 volumes: volumes I, III and V (the last volume). Richly illustrated edition, announced with 575 figures interleaved in the text, including numerous anatomical, pathological representations and techniques or surgical instruments.

3 loose volumes: volumes II, III and V, devoted to different pathologies and surgical practices.

An especially interesting set by the union of two treatises allowing illustrating the evolution of French surgery during the first half of the 19th century.

Old bindings in used condition, with rubs and visible wear on the boards, spine, and headbands. The interiors are overall particularly fresh given the age of the works, with some foxing and scattered stains. One page shows a tear/margin loss on the right margin, without affecting the text or readability. One title page also shows a significant old halo, visible in the photographs.

The numerous photographs allow a precise appreciation of the condition, bindings, title pages and illustrations and are an integral part of the description.
