Johannes Anthonie Balthasar Stroebel (1821-1905) - Echtpaar in interieur

A jewel of the 19th-century Dutch master Johannes Anthonie Balthasar Stroebel. Top left signed and top right dated 1876. The painting shows us a depiction of a couple in an interior. A painting of grand quality.

The work shows strong similarities with the paintings of Johannes Bosboom (1817-1891) and Wijnand Nuijen (1813-1839). Stroebel taught at the Hague Academy and was the teacher of Jacob Maris. He worked mainly in The Hague. He was a member of the Haagse Pulchri Studio and the Amsterdam society Arti et Amicitiae. In 1905 he died, 84 years old. His work is located in, among other collections, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, the Teylers Museum in Haarlem and the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.

The painting is in excellent condition and comes with an equally beautiful matching frame.
