In the stylistic lineage and the period of Pierre-Auguste RENOIR (1841-1919)
Attributed to or MonogramMED VALENTIN (Period inscription on the back)
Female nude at her toilette (or The Seated Bather)
SUBJECT & VIRTUE OF THE DRAWING: Important intimate studio scene depicting a seated three-quarter nude female against a white drapery with generous folds and remarkable plastic mastery.
The model, with untied brunette hair, is captured in the act in a graceful, timeless gesture of her toilette, one hand raised to her hair.
In the background, the suggested decor reveals a suspended circular composition evoking a straw hat with ochre and red tones, typical of artists’ ateliers in the Impressionist period.

Nominative marking: Presence of the old handwritten inscription “VALENTIN” drawn in pencil by a plumber on the lower right edge of the back frame.
