Description from the seller
Cruet set made of first-standard silver (950/1000) in the Paris workshop of Alphonse Debain.
The set is composed of several elements joined together with screws. Its base consists of an oval tray bordered by a raised rim with an undulating outline. The upper edge follows the form of stylised palmette leaves, creating a continuous ornamental band. The tray rests on four scrolling feet.
Two openwork holders for the glass decanters are mounted on the base. Their bodies are formed by an interlaced pattern of overlapping circular motifs. The upper edges of the holders flare outward and repeat the decorative vocabulary of the tray, with stylised palmette leaves.
In the centre of the tray is a tall handle with a baluster-shaped stem, decorated at the base with acanthus leaves and terminating in a heart-shaped grip embellished with scrolling motifs. Approximately one-third of the way up the handle are double rings intended to hold the stoppers, also decorated with palmette ornament.
The decanters are shaped as small jugs and are made of transparent soda glass, with faceted bodies and curved loop handles.
