Art Deco biscuit tin in glazed ceramic by Wächtersbach, with an oval ribbed metal mount, measuring 24 × 17 × 11 cm and weighing 1.4 kg, finished in white, yellow and green, dating from circa 1930–1940, in good condition with minor signs of aging and small scratches on the clasp.
Description from the seller
Old art deco porcelain biscuit tin with an oval ribbed metal mount.
CONDITION:
Good overall condition: no chips, no hairlines, no cracks, and almost no oxidation marks on the metal parts, but there are small scratches on the clasp.
The hinge works, but when open, the lid is slightly inclined.
(see photos). There are traces of sanding (last photo).
IDENTIFICATION:
There is an indented number engraved under the box (3377) as well as a round stamp marked Germany. There are also 2 stamped numbers: 1638 (1658?) and 18.
I asked AI about this. It states that:
"The combination of this specific mold shape and the spray decoration (spritzdekor) is characteristic of the Bauhaus / late Art Deco period of Wächtersbach, placing its manufacture very precisely between 1930 and 1935."
