Brut Balance is a contemporary abstract work in which Jeanne Grieco explores the relationship between force, space and matter.

An imposing black structure traverses the upper part of the canvas, forming an almost architectural composition. Beneath this dark mass appears a golden zone, built up by overlays, scratches and traces, creating a striking contrast with the sobriety of the white background.

The fine, irregular lines that run across the surface bring a graphic dimension and give the impression of a construction in motion. The material, deliberately left visible, bears witness to the artist’s gesture and gives the work a tactile presence.

Black evokes solidity and density, while gold introduces a warm and subtle light. Between these two elements, white acts as a breathing space, allowing the composition to retain a certain lightness despite the power of its structure.
