Description from the seller
Superb and imposing antique standing photo frame, richly decorated in the Louis XV / Neo-Rococo style. This piece stands out for its particularly abundant and elaborate decoration. The pierced mount features numerous Rocaille scrolls, arabesques, foliage and flowers. The upper part is adorned with two female bust figures, symmetrically placed on either side of the frame. The crown presents a charming composition of several birds surrounded by flowers and foliage. The lower part is dominated by a remarkable high-relief mascaron, surrounded by large volutes and vegetal ornaments. Close-up views allow appreciating the depth of the casting and the numerous details of the decor. The back is also particularly well finished. The frame has a large, fully molded and decorated easel, allowing the object to be displayed vertically on a dresser, a console, or a piece of furniture. The structure is heavy, weighing about 2 kg. It appears to be made of bronze or copper alloy. Some verdigris traces visible in the recesses are compatible with a copper-containing alloy. In the absence of metallurgical analysis, the material is noted with caution. Dimensions Height: 35 cm, Maximum width: 24 cm, Depth with easel: about 20 cm, Weight: about 2 kg. The frame retains its glass and its rear support system. Antique condition with patina, traces of oxidation, signs of wear and scratches on the glass, visible in the photographs. These elements are consistent with the object's age and use. It has not been heavily polished to preserve its patina. Proposed dating: late 19th – early 20th century, subject to expert appraisal. A very beautiful decorative piece by its size, its weight and above all the exuberance of its figurative decoration. The photographs are an integral part of the description and show precisely the state of preservation. For your sale listing Time period stated: late 19th – early 20th century Material: bronze or copper alloy.
