Beautiful Antique Japanese Orihon (Accordion) Album from 1920 with Ukiyo-e Prints
Offered for sale: A stunning and highly unique traditional Japanese folding book (Orihon style) from 1920 (Taisho period) in excellent condition. This album features a beautiful cloth cover decorated with traditional Japanese masks (Noh/Kabuki) and calligraphy, complete with a luxurious closure cord with tassels.
Inside, you will find miniature prints of iconic Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints, including scenes from the world-famous series "The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō" and "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" by Utagawa Hiroshige. A very special detail: the plates were carefully annotated by hand in English at the time, explaining the historical context of the rest stops.
