Description from the seller
Cloth-bound - "Le Rire Rouge"
From issue 7 to issue 58, corresponding to the complete set of all issues published in 1915.
Very rarely offered for sale!
Le Rire Rouge is a variant of Temps de Guerre, the famous caricature review "Le Rire". It will publish until 1919, after which it returns to being simply "Le Rire".
A revue of rare iconographic wealth on the war seen from the French side. Many caricatures illustrating "Les Polius" from the trenches as well as the English and Russian Allies. The Germans are not spared by the sharp pens of the era’s most famous cartoonists (Poulbot, Willette, Léandre, Flores, Métivet, Faivre...) . A true testimony of the propaganda of the time from the French perspective!
The overall condition is very good, notably the inner pages without major defects to report.
The binding shows some signs of wear, particularly the cloth spine which has suffered a bit from humidity. The edges of the boards are somewhat dulled. However, the binding remains very solid and no fragility is to be noted in the quires.
A historical piece not to be missed!
