Three vintage wall hooks in cast brass with olive-green alabastrite plaques featuring neoclassical reliefs, made by M.C.B. in Italy, dating from 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
Triplet of Vintage Brass and Alabaster Coat Hooks – Neoclassical Profiles in High Relief – M.C.B. – Italy, 1950s/1970s
Elegant and exceptional set consisting of three vintage wall hooks (for coats or hats) of refined Italian craftsmanship, dating from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The objects are composed of a solid, heavy supporting structure in bronzed fused brass, richly worked with decorative volutes in Liberty/Baroque taste.
The core of each piece is made up of an oval alabastrite plaque (marble powder and resin) in olive green, serving as a background to refined busts of Neoclassical inspiration.
The faces and the details of the garments are executed in very white, pronounced high relief, creating a splendid three-dimensional effect that recalls the carving of ancient cameos and Wedgwood-style porcelain.
On the back of each plaque the factory mark of the Italian producer is clearly stamped: "MODEL REGISTERED" and the initials "M. C. B.", testifying to the authenticity and the registered industrial design of the period.
The plaques are firmly fixed to the metal frame by their four original brass screw studs.
The set is in excellent vintage condition.
The brass retains its beautiful original patina, which enhances the chiaroscuro of the fusion and the white reliefs of the faces, which are intact, clean, and well defined.
A collectible triplet of solid construction, ideal to add an eclectic and sophisticated touch to mid-century interiors.
Material: Bronzed fused brass, alabastrite (reconstituted marble) – 3 pieces
Weight: About 330 grams per piece
