Dimensions: 16.5 x 13.5 cm (image size) 17.5 x 14.5 cm (frame)

Condition: The painting is in good condition. A cleaning could further improve the appearance of the image (see photos).

Frame: The frame shows minor damage and is included as a free accessory.

Portrait of a young nobleman / scholar, Austria or southern Germany, circa 1760-1780

Time: Late Rococo / early Enlightenment - you can see it in the hairstyle: side curl (cadenette), ponytail at the back, white neckerchief with a small bow - this was the fashion around 1770 under Maria Theresa / Joseph II.

Country: Austria / Vienna - with 90% certainty. The painting style with the dark, almost black background and the harsh craquelure is typical for Austrian provincial painters of that time.
