One-volume work in French, 1st edition from 1897, 719 pages, bound in demi‑cuir (green and blue); published by Imprimerie Scientifique, Ch. Bulens, Éditeur, titled Les Forêts, la Chasse et la Pêche - Section Belge - Exposition Internationale Bruxelles-Tervueren.

Rare specimen from the official illustrated catalogue of the Belgian section at the Brussels-Tervueren International Exhibition (1897).
A true encyclopedia on the natural heritage of the late 19th century.
Historical provenance
(Priced issue):
This work was awarded as a prize of honor to Mr. François Gauthier, teacher and land surveyor in Boneffe (wet seals with his name around the engraving of the Forest Pavilion of Tervueren).
A handwritten official letter, signed by the Cantonal Inspector of Namur, dated December 10, 1897, is precious bound at the beginning of the volume.
It congratulates the teacher for his success in teaching agriculture and the protection of animals.
Scientific content:
The work, more than 700 pages, is divided into major sections
-Forests & Sylviculture:
Study of tree species, pests (bark beetles, etc.) and forest management.
-Game: Legislation, zoology of large and small game in Belgium, birds.
-Fishing: Advanced river and sea fishing techniques, illustrated descriptions of gear (nets, traps with wings, etc.),
fauna of freshwater fish and crustaceans.
Rich iconography:
The volume contains numerous textual illustrations, technical tables, schematics of historical fishing gear, and magnificent engravings (notably the frontispiece by R. Viandier and the circular view of the Forest Pavilion of Tervueren).
Condition: Very good (about 90% freshness)
Binding: period binding in half-binding leather/green and blue faux leather with corners.
Spine with very elegant false raised bands, boards firmly attached. Inner boards and flyleaves of marbled paper “cuve” with green and cream volute motifs in perfect condition.
Interior: Text in great freshness
Pulp/stock: Time-era paper very sound, free of major foxing, simply showing light, natural and uniform browning on a few pages, with no severity.
