AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas depicting a lively interior scene featuring a group of musicians and figures dressed in the style of the 17th–18th centuries.
The composition shows a young musician playing the lute, accompanied by several figures around a richly laid table. In the foreground appears a child beside a large string instrument, while other characters take part in the scene. The dog and the cat on the floor stand out, as well as the landscape visible through the window, with vegetation and a mill.
The work presents a marked chiaroscuro lighting, a warm palette, and a composition characteristic of genre painting in the Flemish/Dutch sphere. It also retains an old carved and gilded wooden frame, of great decorative presence, with signs of wear and patina typical of its age.
Technique: oil on canvas
Subject: genre scene / musicians
School: Flemish/Dutch, stylistic attribution
Proposed period: 18th century
Frame: antique, carved and gilded
Condition: shows signs of age, wear and craquelure typical of the piece; see photographs to appreciate its state of conservation.
Measurements with frame: 90x55 cm
Measurements without frame: 66x40 cm
