Description from the seller
Le Vieux Lausanne – Charles Vuillermet – Lausanne, Librairie F. Rouge & Cie, 1890.
Rare edition in portfolio devoted to Old Lausanne, composed of 80 lithographed plates, after watercolors, drawings and documents from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
Complete copy of its 80 plates, preserved in sheets in its original publisher's portfolio. The set also includes the introductory sheets and the lists of plates.
The views constitute an important iconographic documentation on the history and urban transformations of Lausanne: streets, squares, gates, monuments, quarters and buildings today transformed or disappeared. Some plates reproduce ancient documents, while others depict nature-drawn views from the late 19th century.
