Description from the seller
New series – Lost souls
David Law
Contemporary Image Photographer – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into stripped-down, dark universes inhabited by suspended phantom silhouettes. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores notions of isolation, trace, and memory. A silent crossing, at the boundaries of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
