Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss, 998 cc, first registered in 2002.
Description from the seller
Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss – an icon from the golden Ducati Superbikes era
Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss – limited to just 400 units worldwide
For sale is a very special Ducati from the golden era of Italian superbike building: the Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss, a limited special edition of only 400 units worldwide.
This Ducati is not just an 998S – it is a piece of Ducati racing history.
The story behind it
The early 2000s were a very special time for Ducati. The legendary 916/996 series was evolved with the 998 and received the technically advanced Testastretta V2 engine. At the same time, Ducati celebrated major successes in the Superbike World Championship.
At the center of this era stood a name: Troy Bayliss.
The Australian won the Superbike World Championship on a Ducati in 2001 and became one of the defining figures of Ducati racing history. Ducati took this success as an occasion to bring a very special homage to the street: the 998S Troy Bayliss Replica. (Ducati)
Only 400 units of this special edition were produced, each vehicle with its own number on the numbered plaque. Thus the Bayliss 998S belongs to the exceptionally rare and sought-after special models of the 998 family. (Gallery Aaldering)
Technology from the racing DNA
The base is the already exceptional 998S with its 998 cm³ Testastretta V2.
The Bayliss version was made even more exclusive. Including, among other things:
• 998 cm³ Testastretta V2
• ~136 HP
• Dry clutch
• Sand-casted engine case
• Fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock
• Öhlins fork with TiN-coated stanchions
• Öhlins steering damper
• High-quality Brembo four-piston brake system
• Marchesini alloy wheels
• Numerous carbon components
• Special Troy Bayliss livery
• Numerated limited edition plaque
• Certificate of special edition
With this, the Bayliss was not only visually an homage to the superbike, but also technically much closer to the racing DNA than a ordinary 998. (2ri)
A piece of Ducati time history
What makes this Ducati special is the combination of design, technology, racing history and extreme rarity.
The 998 is already regarded as one of the last great Ducati superbikes from the era shaped by Massimo Tamburini. The Troy Bayliss Edition merges that legendary styling with the name of a World Champion, turning it into a motorcycle with its own unique story.
Only 400 units worldwide.
Not an ordinary 998S.
Not a retro Replica.
Limited-edition model from the factory – as a homage to Troy Bayliss and his World Championship title.
A Ducati for connoisseurs, collectors and for all who understand what these motorcycles mean for Ducati’s history.
The 998S Troy Bayliss is one of those motorcycles where you don’t just ride a motorcycle – you ride a piece of Ducati history.
Our vehicle has passed the new TÜV with no defects.
Everything works as it should.
We are happy to assist you with import and registration in your respective country.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
