Description from the seller
New series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This research around gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then struck by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into pared-down and dark universes, inhabited by ghostly silhouettes suspended. These indistinct presences, almost erased, wander in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual writing built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notion of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, on the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, double-mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial work and music, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
