Description from the seller
New Series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, dark universes inhabited by phantom silhouettes suspended. These indistinct, nearly erased presences drift through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores notions of isolation, trace, and memory. A silent journey, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a mounted backing. Printed on bright white vinyl, counter-mounted between two aluminum plates, with a matte UV- and humidity-resistant coating, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photobook and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
