Description from the seller
New series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a haunting, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Lost Souls
In this series, David Law plunges into spare, dark universes, inhabited by ghostly silhouettes suspended. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual writing built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent crossing, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in back mount. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV-resistant and humidity-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career comprising 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
