Description from the seller
Olga Ermolova – from the maritime commission series for Galerie Lebensfreude
Original painting by Olga Ermolova, acrylic on canvas, about 40 × 50 cm, hand-signed by the artist. Ermolova, according to her own biographical information, was trained in Kiev and has been working in Germany since the 1990s. She is best known for her figurative, often erotic paintings of women.
The work belongs to an autonomous maritime series that Ermolova created circa 2018–2020 on commission for the then Galerie Lebensfreude in Bad Doberan/Heiligendamm on the Baltic Sea. For this group of works she combined her characteristic sensual figure painting with motifs of the sea, beach and seafaring. Colorful, exuberant images were produced with a distinctly maritime orientation compared to her otherwise predominantly erotic works.
Provenance: Commissioned directly from the artist for Galerie Lebensfreude and acquired by her. The works were presented in the gallery, which existed until 2023. Since then, in the possession of the client.
