Description from the seller
An elegant antique porcelain decorative plate of significant collector's value; it was produced in Austria at the renowned Imperial Crown China manufactory (Bawo & Dotter, Fischern/Carlsbad) around 1900.
The center of the plate features a finely painted, romanticized portrait of Juliet—the famous heroine of William Shakespeare's play *Romeo and Juliet*. The portrait is framed by an exquisite, rich, raised-gold scrollwork pattern set against a vibrant turquoise border, a style characteristic of high-quality Austrian porcelain from that era.
The reverse side bears the official green underglaze factory mark "Imperial Crown Austria," the handwritten title of the subject—"Juliet" (Romeo & Juliet) Shakespeare—and a hand-painted inventory (or pattern series) number in red: LM. 4672.
