Alter Ego - C. Del Barrio

Alter Ego explores the duality that inhabits every person: what we show to the world and what remains hidden beneath the surface.
Through an abstract Cubist and contemporary language, the fragmented forms, gestural black lines, and a combination of bright yet balanced colors build a figure that seems to exist between two identities. The irregular geometry invites the viewer to discover different expressions, perspectives, and interpretations within the same image.
The work combines power, mystery, and a certain playful character. Alter Ego does not aim to represent a specific person, but to become a reflection of the viewer themselves: that other version of us that may appear depending on the moment, the circumstances, or what we carry inside.
The imperfection of the forms and the spontaneity of the lines are essential elements of C. Del Barrio’s artistic language, where expression and the personality of the work prevail over literal representation.

About the artist
C. Del Barrio is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist whose work sits between contemporary Cubism and figurative abstraction. Trained initially in Arts, she has developed her career as a painter in parallel with her international career as a lyric soprano.
Her artistic language explores identity, emotion, and transformation through color, imperfect geometry, line, and symbolism. Her figures, often fragmented, simplified, or hybrid, move away from literal representation to create images open to different interpretations.
Her work blends structure and spontaneity, recognizable forms and abstraction, with particular attention to gesture, balance, and expressiveness. Faces and figures do not seek idealized perfection, but rather convey presence, character, and emotion.
She currently works from Spain creating original canvas works for private collections and contemporary spaces.
