Created around 1680, the Latour vineyard is one of the oldest in the Médoc. Located 50 km northwest of Bordeaux and 300 meters from the Gironde estuary, it covers 96.5 hectares split between the historic Enclos terroir (47 hectares), located in the heart of the estate, and the outer plots. The planting is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (76%), followed by Merlot (22%) as well as Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc (2%). Planting density is high with about 9,000 vines per hectare on average (for a total of nearly 800,000 vines). For about twenty years the estate has been working on reducing the use of phytosanitary products and was certified organic farming in 2015.
