Antique oil on canvas depicting two ponies in a meadow landscape.
Details:
- Artist: Signed lower left Schouten / Schoutens (Belgian/Dutch school, 19th century)
- Subject: Two horses / ponies in field
- Technique: Oil on canvas
- Size: 55 x 43 cm (canvas), approx 70 x 58 cm framed
- Frame: Original antique gilt wood frame, some wear consistent with age
- Back: Original old dark linen canvas, old wooden stretcher with central bar, fixed with old nails (not staples) - see photos
- Condition: Good antique condition. Canvas stable, no tears. Some craquelure and light surface dirt consistent with age. Frame with minor chips.
A charming 19th century equine painting, genuine antique, not a modern reproduction.
