Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter - 70cl

A winter tale.

Snowed in at home, Dr. Bill, Glenmorangie’s Director of Whisky Creation, began to dream of this whisky. His goal was to capture the cozy, magical feeling of sitting by the fireplace while snow blankets the world outside. Seeking a rich, radiant flavor and a wintry aroma, he finished this 13-year-old single malt in Marsala wine casks from Sicily.

The experience begins with light flurries of fruit and honey, developing into drifts of cocoa powder, red pepper flakes, and Brazil nut toffee pieces. It culminates in a finish that feels endless, swirling with cinnamon, ginger, and clove.

Glenmorangie’s new "A Tale of Winter" follows last year’s well-received "A Tale of Cake" release, which was finished in Tokaji casks. This is a 13-year-old bottling finished in Marsala wine casks.

As far as we know, this marks Glenmorangie’s first use of this type of cask; Marsala is a fortified wine produced in the Sicily region of Italy.

Nose:
Intriguing and slightly sharp, featuring the classic Marsala top note of lightly oxidized fruit. Hints of orange toffee mingle with fragrant top notes of lavender honey and sweet rose.

Taste:
A luscious, syrupy, yet slightly peppery mouthfeel leads to an explosion of sweet, nutty flavors—coconut powder, red pepper, Brazil nut toffee, and sweet barley malt. Finish:
Sweet Demerara sugar and a long-lasting, spicy finish of clove, ginger, and cinnamon.
