Bibeln / The Holy Bible (Martin Luther), an early 18th‑century Luther Bible in an original leather binding with baroque copper engravings, about 37.5 × 26 cm, 1834 pages (1181 numbered + 23 unnumbered), published by Johann André Endters Seel. Sohn und Erben, with over 100 copper engravings and brass corner mounts mostly intact but partly missing, showing wormholes and wear consistent with age.

Great Holy Scripture / Luther Bible from the early 18th century (1722 – 1734).
Special features & details:
Cover: Impressive, original leather binding over thick wooden boards. The binding is richly adorned with Baroque copper engravings.
Fittings: Preserved, elaborately crafted corner fittings made of brass with fine relief decorations, partly missing. Clasp and ribbons are entirely lost.
Content: The Holy Scripture according to Luther's translation by Dr. Martin Luther, printed in classic Fraktur typeface. Includes, among others, the list of the Apostles/Prophets, the Apocrypha, as well as the historical "Warhafftige Beschreibung" of Luther's life and Katharina von Bora.
Format: Dimensions approx. 37.5 x 26 cm (impressive folio format).
Condition:
Authentic, age-appropriate condition with beautiful patina. The book block is stable and the binding holds well. There are typical historical signs of age and wear, such as worm traces (wormholes) on the binding and on some pages as well as rubbed corners and edges. No loose pages. Over 100 copper engravings.
An excellent, over 300-year-old collectible for lovers of historical theology and Baroque bookbinding art.
