AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Offered is a beautiful vintage art glass vase, executed in a lovely flowing form with a wide, rounded belly and a slender, lightly flaring neck.

The glass has a milky, matte and partly satin appearance, giving the vase a soft and understated look.

The most striking element is the richly applied multicolored glass decoration in the belly of the vase. Small and larger fragments in, among others, blue, turquoise, yellow, red, orange, pink and white are visible in the glass. This decoration evokes the so-called confetti- or millefiori-like techniques that were frequently used in European art glass in the second half of the 20th century.

The combination of the frosted/milk glass, the colorful inclusions and the asymmetrical distribution of the decoration give the object a strong mid-century modern character.

Because the vase is unmarked or unsigned, the exact producer and designer are not known. Based on form, glassworking and decorative technique, the vase can be placed within the tradition of European art glass from Scandinavia or Italy, most likely from the second half of the 20th century, circa 1960–1980.
