Brass centerpiece bowl dating from 1960–1970.
Description from the seller
A heavy, solid sheet of golden light sculpted into an elevated form, this centerpiece bowl balances the monumental density of thick artisan brass with the organic softness of botanical art. Sinuous, stylized Edelweiss blooms drift across the mirror-polished surface, capturing the high-end decorative language of 1970s Italian modernism and the refined geometric rigor characteristic of the Padua goldsmith school (#PaduaSchool).
Bearing the original workshop stamp "Gallinaro oggettistica" to the base, this authenticated piece represents the mature design era of Celeste Gallinaro after his training at the Selvatico School in Padua. Moving away from his early 1960s thin hammered works while keeping his signature acid-etched technique, this heavy, thick-gauge smooth brass creation showcases the studio's evolution into structured luxury objects, where deep engravings retain their dark original oxidation patina to contrast sharply against the golden metal.
Designer & Maker: Celeste Gallinaro
Studio Stamp: Gallinaro oggettistica
Origin: Padova, Italy
Period: Circa 1970s
Technique: Acid-etched engraving, hot-turned thick brass sheet
Condition: Beautiful vintage condition with an honest, lived character showing light micro-scratches and minor surface marks consistent with fifty years of history. A single, minor pinpoint indentation is visible only under raking light, while the natural dark patina inside the floral lines has been intentionally preserved to maintain the original artistic contrast. The piece is professionally cleaned and sealed with premium museum-grade micro-crystalline wax to permanently lock in the finish.
Dimensions:
• Diameter: 23.5 cm
• Floating Elevation: 8 mm
• Under-Rim Curve Depth: 1.5 cm
