LASVEGUIX
Contemporary French artist Lasveguix develops a singular universe at the crossroads of street art, collage and contemporary painting. His work questions the memory of walls, the passage of time and the poetry of the ephemeral, transforming urban scars into emotionally charged pieces.
Initiated into graffiti by his cousin SUOZ, he forges his visual language through contact with the walls of Paris and London. His work sits within an artistic lineage where the great names of urban and contemporary art converse. One can sense the heritage of Jacques Villeglé and Raymond Hains in the art of torn posters, the sculptural power of Vhils, the raw energy of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the silhouettes of Jérôme Mesnager, the poetry of Miss.Tic, the urban memory of Ernest Pignon-Ernest, the stencil of Jef Aérosol, the pixelated universe of Invader and the iconic strength of Shepard Fairey. Without ever imitating them, Lasveguix asserts a personal, instantly recognizable handwriting.
Torn posters, spray paint, acrylic, Posca and reliefs create genuine “skins of walls,” where tears, overlays and traces of time become witnesses to a collective memory. Each work reveals a dialogue between material, history and emotion, inviting the viewer to rediscover the beauty of what the city once seemed to forget.
Lasveguix regularly exhibits in France and internationally. His works have joined private collections in numerous countries and bear witness to a growing interest from collectors. His career leads him to participate in art fairs, prestigious exhibitions as well as charity galas bringing together collectors, patrons and institutions. His work has notably been presented at events organized at Roland-Garros, at the District 13 Art Fair at the Hôtel Drouot, in Monaco and at several iconic venues in today’s contemporary art scene.
Through each of his creations, Lasveguix gives a second life to the remnants of the city. He does not merely depict walls: he reveals their soul, making urban heritage, memory and creation dialogue in a work that is deeply contemporary and timeless.
