Description from the seller

Exceptional pair of large Médicis vases in Empire style – French hard-purnace porcelain, fully hand-painted – Signed Jean Debenoy – Circa 1950-1960.

Rare and spectacular pair of large decorative vases in Empire style, made of high-quality French hard-purnace porcelain, entirely hand-painted and richly enhanced with fine gold.

These imposing pieces faithfully reproduce, with remarkable accuracy, the decorative codes of the First Empire: imperial eagles with spread wings, laurel friezes, deep Empire green, elegant monumental swan-shaped handles, and the historically balanced Médicis silhouette.

The decoration is executed entirely by brush, with no visible transfer. The various gold tones (mat gold, bright gold, and brunings) attest to true atelier craftsmanship and offer remarkable depth under light.

Each vase is signed on the base:

“Painted entirely by hand – Jean Debenoy”

Handwritten signature certifying the painter-decorator’s work.

The overall quality of manufacture is noticeably superior to typical decorative productions of the second half of the 20th century.
