Description from the seller
Antique gilded bronze/brass! crucifix – richly decorated – 31 × 19.5 cm
Beautifully executed antique crucifix in gilded bronze or brass, richly adorned with floral motifs, rocailles and relief decorations. In the center is the corpus of Christ, finely worked with crown of thorns and loincloth. At the top is the traditional INRI inscription.
The cross has a particularly decorative and almost architectural design, with refined ornamentation along its full length and width. The warm gold-colored patina and light signs of aging give the piece an authentic historical appearance.
On the reverse there are old scratched markings, including “N° 77” and the letters “DL”. The corpus appears to be attached separately to the cross. At the top there is a mounting eye, allowing easy presentation on the wall.
Dimensions: approx. 31 × 19.5 cm
Material: presumably gilded bronze/brass
Period: probably early 20th century
Condition: good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging, small discolorations and wear appropriate to age.
An attractive religious collectible for lovers of ecclesiastical art, antique devotional items and European bronze objects.
