Description from the seller
Rare Antique Russian Silver Mocca Spoons, Set of 6 – Early 20th Century – Art Nouveau
Description
A rare matching set of six antique Russian silver mocca spoons, dating from the early 20th century.
The spoons feature an exceptionally decorative Art Nouveau / Russian Modern design, with elaborate floral and scrolling ornament, distinctive twisted stems and richly decorated handles.
All six spoons are matching and display the same characteristic design and craftsmanship. They retain a beautiful natural antique patina, with signs of age and use.
The design closely resembles a documented Russian silver mocca spoon attributed to Moscow, 1928, in 800 silver, with a very similar engraved ornament and construction. However, the hallmark on this set is too worn to be read with certainty, so the exact maker, date and silver fineness cannot be definitively confirmed.
Period: Early 20th century
Origin: Russia
Material: Silver, hallmark worn/unreadable
Quantity: 6 matching mocca spoons
Style: Art Nouveau / Russian Modern
Type: Mocca / coffee spoon
Condition: Antique condition with age-related wear, scratches and natural patina. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
A charming and uncommon set for collectors of Russian silver, antique coffee ware and Art Nouveau objects.
