Description from the seller
Crypto Movie Special Series - Reconstituting a photo using photographs of the represented artist.
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on the gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first gained recognition with a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant Pop Art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro‑graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave”, evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with a flexible UV- and moisture-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary finish.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops authorial and musical projects including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
