Léon Marel’s oil painting Deauville ~ Collection Marel VII-I, an impressionist work from France (2000–2010), signed, original edition, framed, depicting a sea view, 34×29 cm with frame.
Description from the seller
Léon MAREL - French painter.
Léon Marel, a Northern French impressionist painter. His work is closely connected to the atmosphere of the French coast. His paintings are characterized by a loose, lively brushwork and a special attention to the play of sunlight, sky, sea and sand.
Marel enjoyed focusing on everyday scenes along the coast: beachgoers, walkers, colorful parasols and the lively activity of the French seaside resorts. Instead of meticulously detailing every element, he captures mainly the atmosphere and the moment with short, expressive brushstrokes. The result is a sunny, spontaneous look that clearly aligns with the tradition of French Impressionism.
The work offered here is a fine example of that. The combination of the bright blue water, warm sand, the colorful beach parasols and the coastal buildings in the background gives the painting a distinctly North French maritime ambiance. The richly gilded frame provides a beautiful contrast to the fresh colors of the composition.
