Description from the seller
“Vertex”
This work explores introspection from fullness and calm. By framing the face, attention shifts toward the figure’s inner voice, eliminating distractions to connect with a strong, elegant feminine presence in total balance with herself.
Built through the harmony of complementary colors, the piece uses the contrast between reddish/burgundy (lips, cheeks and garment) and the olive/lime greens of the background. This chromatic tension does not create conflict, but a luminous vitality. The texture in the background and the softness of the skin add dynamism and tactile depth. The title Vertex is the exact point where the lines intersect. Here, the figure is the center where the architecture of clothing, the geometry of accessories, the power of color, and the serenity of the mind converge. It is a celebration of contemporary sophistication, a partial portrait that reveals a complete identity.
Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a hobby, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical training in oil painting, acrylics, and life drawing, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature.
Her early career unfolded amid Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work quickly stood out: in salons and exhibitions she received numerous prizes and honorable mentions.
AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral and imposing realism that instantly captures the gaze. However, her approach does not stop at mere photographic mimesis. On anatomy worked with rigor or faces charged with deep psychographic expressivity, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, dense blocks of color, or garbed garments loaded with symbolism. For her, the human body and everyday figures are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.
This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way for her international projection. Over the last decade, her works have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:
Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism.
United States: Included in private collections dedicated to contemporary Latin American art.
Belgium and Poland: Exhibited at figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries.
Russia: Acquired by collectors fascinated by the rigor of technique and the school of realism.
Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative phase. Far from the commercial noise of fast trends, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a universal tool for introspection. Her studio is today a space of constant creation, where every brushstroke continues to reveal those truths and hidden icons that we all carry inside, but which we often find hard to see.
