Magnificent Asmat statue from the Jac Hoogerbrugge collection. Collected by Hoogerbrugge long before 1969 (possibly 1957) and described by him as an "old and beautiful and well-carved piece." See his drawing and note. Beautiful heads with protruding tongues, rhinoceros hornbills and a praying-mantis pose. All references to headhunting. Remnants of lime. With a custom-made pedestal.
