Set of table linen with 11 napkins with initials J.L. dating to approx. 1930 - Textile - 2.1 m - 1.5 m

This is a particularly interesting set of table linen, comprising eleven napkins and a tablecloth.

In all my years of handling fine linen, I have never come across a set quite like this one. What immediately caught my attention is the beautiful blue colour of the embroidered initials "J.L." Equally distinctive is the style of the hand embroidery itself, which differs markedly from the classic French lettering traditionally seen on antique linens. I find it especially refreshing and charming.

Remarkably, the soft blue thread has retained its original colour over the decades, showing virtually no fading and remaining as delicate and attractive as when it was first embroidered.
There are two sets of initials on the table linen

I believe this table linen would be ideal for al fresco lunches and dinners, or even for an elegant picnic setting.

The napkins vary slightly in size, as is often the case with hand-finished linens, but they measure approximately 45 cm x 50 cm overall.

A truly unusual and appealing set, well worth your consideration.
