Artist's Statement:
This work is an exploration of resilience and hope amidst chaos. Centered on the solitary figure of a red and brown lighthouse, the painting captures the pinnacle moment of a sea storm, where turquoise and white waves, loaded with texture and movement, threaten to engulf the structure. The leaden sky reinforces the atmosphere of isolation and the overwhelming force of nature.
Through the use of gestural brushstrokes and impasto techniques, I have sought to convey the physicality of the storm and the fragility of human construction. The lighthouse, however, remains upright, its light flashing through the fog, becoming a symbol of guidance, perseverance, and the inner light that guides us even in the darkest and most turbulent circumstances. It is a meditation on the constant struggle between the uncontrollable force of the environment and the will to endure.
