Decorative wooden crucifix with Christ figure and mother-of-pearl inlay – Jerusalem

Description

Very decorative wooden crucifix, richly adorned with presumably mother-of-pearl inlay and carved ornaments.

On the front there is a metal Christ figure. The cross is surrounded by various decorative elements and inlaid representations. The backside is also specially designed: there are several round mother-of-pearl medallions with symbols and Roman numerals. The word "Jerusalem" is inscribed in the wood.

The whole has a handsome, artisanal character and is extensively decorated on both the front and the back.

The exact age and origin are not known to me. Given the craftsmanship and the mention “Jerusalem,” it may be a religious souvenir or devotional object from Jerusalem/the Holy Land.
