Albert Sorel, Old clothes, old stripes.
Paris, Carteret, 1913. Octavo, XVI-267p.
Original edition, a unique print run of 300 copies, one of 80 copies of "grand choix", our copy on japon (some are on marais vellum), no. 30. Copy enriched with 2 additional suites of illustrations, on japon. This illustration, comprising the frontispiece, 7 hors-texte plates and 18 vignettes and tailpieces, is the work of Maurice Leloir, engraved by Boisson. The preface is by René Vallery-Radot.
Provenance: Duke of Massa, Jean-Louis-Napoléon Régnier (1875-1946) with his arms on the endpapers.
Binding signed Affolter (the duke’s appointed binder) and dated 1928, full red morocco in the Janséniste style, lined with aubergine morocco, arms on each endpaper, moiré guards, covers and spine preserved. Spine a little faded, slight flaws.
