Description of the Lot
Octavo volume (27.5 x 18 cm), half-red morocco binding with period corners.
Classic edition of this great Arctic adventure novel by Jules Verne, issued from the famous collection of Voyages Extraordinaires.
The work includes:
Le Pays des fourrures, illustrated with 103 drawings by Férat and Beaurepaire (Hetzel collection). Work crowned by the Academy.
Binding from the period in red half-morocco with corners, boards covered in marbled paper in dark and red tones. Spine with false nerves decorated with gilded compartments, borders and lozenges, bearing the author’s name and the gilded title "J. VERNE / LE PAYS DES FOURRURES".
Leather of the spine and corners well preserved with a beautiful red patina, showing light signs of use and minor wear on the headcaps and the joints. Boards in marbled paper in good overall condition.
Text pages and wood-engraved illustrations well contrasted, accompanied by a few scattered fox spots typical of this collection. Solid block of text.
