Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Framed artwork in a natural wood frame with clear mat and protective glass, a Chokin metal engraving plated in 24k gold and silver on a copper/brass plate, measuring 15 x 15 x 7 cm, dating to the 1960s and in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Incredible work of art engraved on metal, realized with the complex and ancient artisanal technique of Chokin. This piece fits magnificently in a modern "Wunderkammer" (Wunderkammer) or in a collection of eclectic decorative objects, thanks to the superb visual contrast between the shine of the precious metals and the precision of the burin.
The work is entirely executed on a copper/brass plate, finely chased and decorated with finishes and details in pure 24-karat gold and silver. The scene, of great visual impact and lyricism, depicts a female silhouette from another era in ceremonial attire with a traditional umbrella, set in front of a sumptuous pavilion and monumental trees. The object still retains all its original authenticity labels (both on the front and on the back) certifying the 24kt gold plating and the manufacture. It is elegantly housed inside a solid natural wood frame with a light mat and protective glass.
The art of Chokin originated in the 12th century to adorn the armor and the legendary swords of the Samurai warriors. This piece is not a simple painting, but a metallurgical artifact that fuses weapons-making with jewelry. A perfect "curiosity object" that catches light in a changing way depending on the angle.
Technique: Metal engraving (Chokin) plated in 24kt gold and silver.
Period: Second half of the 20th century
Materials: 24kt gold, silver, copper/brass and wood
Origin: Japan.
Conditions: Good vintage condition. (See detailed photos).
